energy policy statement

We commit to minimizing the energy consumption of our business activities as much as possible. We do this both in the production environment and in office buildings. For the energy we still need, we continuously pursue significant sustainability.

With this policy statement, we want to raise awareness among all our stakeholders about this commitment to actively contribute to minimizing the environmental impact of our activities through economical and efficient energy use.

Roularta strives for a culture that contributes to improving energy efficiency among all its employees, customers, suppliers, and society in general.

 

from objectives to principles

No words, but actions. To realize our objectives regarding energy efficiency, we have outlined several principles. We do everything possible to put these principles into practice to the fullest extent.

  • We strictly comply with legal obligations and consider these as minimum standards
  • With a view to further sustainability of our energy consumption, we voluntarily joined the Energy Policy Agreement (EBO)
  • Many small efforts add up. We create awareness among our employees and highlight the impact of a rational use of energy
  • We work hard on energy-efficient operations and production, within technically and economically feasible limits
  • An energy-efficiency criterion is an essential part of our procurement policy
  • We implement various energy-saving measures within our operational processes, both in production and office environments
  • Measuring is knowing. Through periodic measurement, recording, and monitoring of energy consumption, we provide ourselves with tools for reporting, communication, and improvement actions
  • We maintain open communication throughout the organization about our energy policy We inform our employees about ambitions and results, and at the same time, we encourage an energy-conscious attitude

ISO 50001

To formalize these principles and specifically the measurements, we have set up an energy management system for the site in Roeselare. This was done in accordance with ISO 50001, a certificate that tests our energy policy and aligns it to an independent, objective, and international standard.

Within the framework of this management system, the following takes place:

  • Our energy consumption is systematically monitored;

  • Important energy flows are periodically monitored;

  • Energy reduction measures are formulated, planned, and followed up based on measurements;

  • The objectives are updated and communicated annually;

  • The necessary resources and training are provided to achieve strategic and operational objectives; and

  • Management is regularly informed about the progress.

It is the task and the responsibility of every Roularta employee to help realize these objectives.
